No one can do every job with only a single tool, no matter how useful it is. In sound reinforcement, the vertical line array has found great popularity in recent years for a number of good reasons. But Meyer Sound looks further, so we built a line of great self-powered curvilinear array loudspeakers, and then turned our attention towards the other major tool in the live sound toolbox: horizontal arrays. The JM-1P arrayable loudspeaker combines Meyer Sound's famed clarity of sound and robust, self-powered performance with our latest breakthroughs in horn design, rigging and loudspeaker control to produce an extremely easy-to-use, highly versatile arrayable loudspeaker system powerful enough to act as a main system, but flexible enough to serve in any number of supporting roles whether horizontal or vertical, flown or stacked. With the level of performance and flexibility, the JM-1P is a wise investment that has a place in every job and on every tour.
Meyer Sound defined the point source array with the classic UPA-1 in 1980, and the self-powered UPA-1P remains one of our top sellers today. With the tremendous technology advances of the last 12 years built into the JM-1P, we are redefining point source systems.
Components
The JM-1P is a two-way system employing components designed and manufactured by Meyer Sound at its Berkeley, Calif., headquarters. Meyer Sound's rigorous quality assurance guarantees the performance and consistency of each loudspeaker.
The JM-1P's wide, 53 Hz to 18 kHz operating frequency range and prodigious output of 138 dB max peak SPL (measured at one meter) is produced by one 15-inch, long-excursion, lowfrequency cone driver, and a four-inch highfrequency compression driver coupled through a patented REM manifold to an extremely accurate constant-Q horn. This horn, which distinguishes the JM-1P, exhibits sharply controlled 20-degree horizontal by 60-degree vertical coverage. The unit's consistent polar response and trapezoidal enclosure allows for tightly packed arrays with each loudspeaker adding 20 degrees to the horizontal coverage of the array (with minimal overlap in high frequencies).
As a Meyer Sound self-powered system, the JM-1P houses integrated electronics for crossover, driver protection, and frequency and phase response correction, in addition to its proprietary 1275 W (2550 W peak) class AB/H amplifier. Meyer Sound's RMS remote monitoring system keeps you informed of the status of all important system parameters.
The optional RMS remote monitoring system provides comprehensive monitoring of system parameters on a Windows-based computer.

SubwoofersWhile the JM-1P provides an outstanding main system in small to medium venues, it is also an excellent choice to provide center or sidefill support in larger systems. With its precisely controlled horn coverage, it is easy to position the JM-1P to provide clear sound to areas not fully reached by the main system, while minimizing unwanted interactions and room reflections. |

The 700-HP ultrahigh-power subwoofer is an ideal match for the JM-1P, especially in the ease with which up to four JM-1P cabinets can be groundstacked on top of a 700-HP cabinet. The 700-HP supports the JM-1P with its operating frequency range of 28 Hz to 150 Hz and maximum peak output of 139 dB SPL.
Galileo/Compass
We know there are a few common applications for the JM-1P, so we asked ourselves how we could simplify setup even further. The JM-1P's rigging and precise coverage do most of the work, but we've developed preset snapshots in Compass control software for Galileo for some of the most common scenarios, in which the JM-1P is used as a main system stacked on top of 700-HP subwoofers. The first preset will result in an equal magnitude frequency response, for jobs such as classical music or theatre. Some jobs call for extra emphasis in the low frequencies, so the other two presets are designed to produce moderate and strong boosts in the low end.
700-HPUltraHigh-Power Subwoofer
The Meyer Sound 700-HP ultrahigh-power subwoofer sets a new standard for the power-to-size equation. The 700-HP's power and bandwidth handle high continuous operating levels and extreme transient information with minimal distortion in its operating frequency range.
Meyer Sound’s rigorous design approach has been applied to extract the greatest efficiency from every part of the system, resulting in the 700-HP’s effortless reproduction of low frequency transient information. As a self-powered system, the transducers, amplification and control electronics of the 700-HP are created as a symbiotic system that optimizes performance and maximizes its tremendous power.
The operating frequency range of 28 Hz to 150 Hz complements other Meyer Sound loudspeakers and line and curvilinear arrays in sound reinforcement applications requiring maximum headroom at the low end of the frequency spectrum.
The 700-HP's efficiently tuned cabinet houses two Meyer Sound-designed and -manufactured back-vented, long-excursion, 18-inch cone drivers. Each driver features a 4-inch voice coil and is rated to handle 1200 AES watts. The drivers have also been engineered for extreme efficiency, using high-gauss neodymium magnets for the most powerful magnetic field strength. High magnetic field strength increases the driver’s sensitivity, which yields greater output, while keeping heat dissipation requirements within operational tolerances.
An integral two-channel class AB/H amplifier with complementary MOSFET output stages supplies total peak power of 2250 watts (1125 watts per channel). With twice the amplifier power of the 650-P subwoofer, the 700-HP produces an average of 3 dB more overall SPL, with enormous headroom to accommodate the most extreme demands with ease. Recent tests conducted by Meyer Sound show the 700-HP producing significantly higher output than other "high-power" subwoofers.
The amplifier, control electronics and power supply are integrated into a single, field-replaceable module mounted in the rear of the cabinet. The cabinet is constructed of multi-ply hardwood and coated with a textured black finish. Integral metal grilles lined with acoustical black mesh protect the cone drivers. Designed mainly for stage or ground placement, the stackable 700-HP includes plastic skids on the bottom of the unit, preventing damage to the enclosure or the unit below. The skids align with slots on the cabinet’s upper surfaces ensuring secure, aligned stacking. For maximum convenience in touring situations, the 700-HP can even travel in stacks on the MCF-700 caster frame.
The 700-HP is truck-smart, with exterior cabinet dimensions suitable for both European and US truck widths. An optional QuickFly rigging kit is available, installed at the factory or as a field upgrade. Up to 10 cabinets can be suspended from the optional MTG-700 top grid in a straight hang at a 7:1 safety factor.
Options available for the 700-HP include weather protection and finishes in custom colors for fixed installations and other situations requiring specific cosmetics.
An optional RMS remote monitoring system module allows comprehensive monitoring of all key system parameters on any RMS-equipped host PC. In addition, Meyer Sound’s MAPP Online multipurpose acoustical prediction program allows quick prediction of coverage, frequency response, impulse response and maximum output of the 700-HP and other Meyer Sound loudspeakers and loudspeaker systems.

The Galileo loudspeaker management system is an elegant hardware and software solution for driving and aligning loudspeaker systems comprised of multiple zones. The system includes the one rack space Galileo 408 processor, with four inputs and eight outputs and a fully digital matrix processor, and the Compass control software for comprehensive control of all parameters from a Windows® or Mac® computer. The Compass software's intuitive user interface is the result of Meyer Sound's years of experience optimizing complex systems.
The Galileo 408 processor shares the same 24-bit, 96 kHz audio quality and 32-bit floating point internal processing as its predecessor, the Galileo 616, though with fewer inputs and outputs.
Designed as the perfect complement to Meyer Sound’s self-powered loudspeakers, the Galileo system includes array compensation for M Series array products, presets for Meyer Sound loudspeakers of various sizes and types, and digital implementations of popular features developed by Meyer Sound over the years for its acclaimed analog processors, including air absorption compensation filters and equalization.
The Galileo 408 can be connected directly to the SIM 3 audio analyzer, providing complete measurement and control for integrated audio systems.
